How much does it cost for Germany to obtain the EU broadband targets?

Comsof refined the predictions of the cost of 'Fiberizing Europe' on one specific country: Germany. Germany plays a special role in the EU: a huge population (80+M inhabitants), a large country, expensive labour costs, an ongoing discussion about vectoring, ... The FTTH Council Europe (an industry organisation whose mission is to accelerate the availability of fibre-based, ultra-high-speed access networks for the benefit of consumers and businesses) wanted to investigate the costs of fiberizing Germany, in order to obtain the EU 2020 broadband objectives.

Together with Patrick Jung, partner at Greenwich Consulting, Comsof investigated the country-specific details, and came up with an innovating approach to calculate the costs of fiberizing the whole country. For these calculations, the FiberPlanIT FTTH Planning and Design software was used.
