IQGeo’s Comsof Fiber plans quickly and accurately. This means less time digging trenches, less disruption for the community, and making it quicker and smoother for everyone

Garth Spencer, UFB Project Director, Ventia

Requirements

Ventia (Previously Visionstream) faced the challenge of planning a modern high-speed fiber optic network in New Zealand, a country with a complex existing infrastructure that included copper networks, gas pipes, electricity cables, and varying soil types.  They required a tool capable of rapidly recalculating network designs, considering real-time input from the field, and running complex 'what if?' scenarios to determine cost-effective strategies. Additionally, they needed a software solution that could make sense of existing underground and aerial pole network features, helping them optimize their network design.

Results

Implementing IQGeo’s Comsof Fiber software for Ventia's Ultra-Fast Broadband project led to significant cost savings, up to 30% in trenching and cabling expenses. IQGeo’s flexibility and prompt support resolved challenges, enhancing the quality of design. This approach minimized disruptions and accelerated network rollout, saving costs. Ventia plans to continue using IQGeo’s Comsof Fiber solution for ongoing efficiency and success in their project.

In August 2022, IQGeo announced the acquisition of Comsof. Read the article in full on our news page
